The API score for Norwalk High School from 2000 to 2010 has increased 161 points, with a 55 point increase in 2008. With the help of our outstanding staff, our WASC accreditation was extended for another six years.
Thanks to the dedication of our students and counseling staff, we have compiled an impressive list of students who are continuing their education.
Black History Month: Just a little reminder that February is Black History Month, let’s all celebrate the contribution to our society. January 1, 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President. It effectively freed 3 million slaves living in the US, but did not free the slaves in the Border States that remained part of the Union. Those slaves were freed when the 13th Amendment was issued two years later. Approximately 186,000 freed African-American men went on to join the Union Army in fighting against the south.
The game that was played by our Lady Lancers on January 30th was a great game. The Norwalk Lady Lancers played a fantastic game against our rivals, the John Glenn Eagles. Many family members came out to support our NHS Lady Lancers Basketball Program.
Starting on March 29 – 31, the 62nd Los Angeles County Science Fair will be held in the Pasadena Convention center. Participants ranging from middle school to high school compete against each other to win medals, special awards, and even scholarships. This year our very own Norwalk High School will be joining the fight for a shot at winning.
Harajuku Crepe, a small eatery located on Santa Monica Boulevard, offers these tasty and affordable treats, which are perfect for people always on-the-go.
This past Wednesday, the school gym was packed with friends and families of the Girls Varsity Basketball Team. Unfortunately, the team suffered a sad loss at home against La Mirada High School.
Norwalk currently sits at the bottom of the Suburban League with a 2-8 record. Unfortunately any hopes of making CIF have vanished for the Lancers.
The Art club is fun and entertaining part of the many clubs offered on campus. This club is all about drawings, paintings, sculptures, and transforming everyday items into aesthetically amazing works of art.
Life Straws is a great cause that everyone should try to contribute to, and Green Team is an excellent club for people interested in helping the environment.
