PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Students;Mr. Ronquillo

I am excited to welcome you to the 2012-13 school year at Norwalk High School.  As your new principal, the 15th principal in NHS’s history, I look forward to being part of the Lancer community.  In the time I have been in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, I have come to admire and respect the Lancer pride and commitment to educate the children of our community.

Since my appointment as principal at Norwalk High School, I have been impressed with the undying commitment of the NHS staff toward students and their academic success. I am impressed to see the teachers/staff believe in continuous improvement for each and every one of our students.  Norwalk High School is a learning community that cares for our students and does their best to heighten students’ ability to learn and achieve.

As many of you know, the upcoming school year will be a “year of change”.  Moving to a traditional 6 period day schedule will continue to increase student achievement.  The staff has been preparing for the change of schedules with an admirable sense of professionalism.  Norwalk High School will continue to focus on providing the very best instruction to our students and will closely analyze our instructional and formative assessment practices.

I would like to welcome the incoming class of 2016 to your first year of high school.  I encourage you to become involved in the many extra-curricular activities we offer at NHS.  Your transition to the high school is very important.  Be active in your education.  Ask your teachers for support, see your counselor for guidance, and look to help each other make the four years you spend at Norwalk High School memorable.

Have a great school year.  I look forward to your future success as a Norwalk Lancer.

Go Lancers!

Rick Ronquillo
