Los Coyotes Unveils Norwalk-La Mirada Unified’s Latest College and Career Center

The college and career center will be a guide to discovering career pathways as well as provide information about UC and CSU admission requirements, financial assistance for higher education and college degrees.

“I am so proud that we can provide our students with this valuable resource on campus,” Los Coyotes Principal Jacob Muñiz said. “It’s imperative our students learn about the direction they want to take in their academic and career paths.”

Students will have the opportunity to take career interest assessments, attend College Week Live and create a four- or six-year plan for high school. The center is open during school hours, and counselors and media clerks will help answer any questions the students may have.

Los Coyotes is the fifth Norwalk-La Mirada Unified middle school to offer a college and career center to students. It follows the opening of centers at Hutchinson and Corvallis middle schools in 2015-16, Benton Middle School in August 2016 and Waite Middle School in September 2016.

Superintendent Dr. Hasmik Danielian launched an initiative to open centers at every middle school campus after a Corvallis Associated Student Body member advocated for one at her school.

“Norwalk-La Mirada Unified middle school students have the opportunity to prepare early for college and career,” Danielian said. “Our District is committed to providing our students with every tool and resource they need to succeed.”
