The weekend of February 12-14, 2010, seven La Mirada High School Band students- Elizabeth Zeledon, Melody Krawzak (named Principal Chair), Gerard Nasser, Joel Munoz (named Principal Chair) , Jonathan Doiron (named Principal Chair), Dollie Krawzak, and Ryan Oshiro, four La Mirada High School Choir students- Czarina De Jesus, Brennah Mayo, Charlene Lundin, and Lisa Garrett, and four Norwalk High School Band students- Israel Cruz, Lorenzo Belloso, Susana Balderas, and Ulises Rivas, participated in the California State University, Los Angeles First Chair Honor Band and Section Leader Honor Choir. Four pieces of music were learned in three days and performed by a 100-piece high school honor band, while seven pieces were learned in three days and performed by a 44-member high school honor choir. In addition, five of the La Mirada High School Band members- Melody Krawzak, Gerard Nasser, Joel Munoz, Jonathan Doiron, and Ryan Oshiro, were further selected based on skill level and musical ability to become members of the CSULA University Wind Ensemble, where an additional four pieces of music were learned and performed by a combination of University and High School students.
