Welcome to the Visual and Performing Arts Academy!

This is the third year for the VAPA Academy, and the program is expanding by leaps and bounds.  In the last three years, the program has built a state-of-the art dance studio, started a new guitar program, acquired a fabulous new choral director, launched a senior internship program, is acquiring a Mac Design lab while students continue to gain local and national recognition for their achievements in art, dance, music, and theatre.
The Academy is specifically designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the arts.  The career pathways include Media and Design Arts for the visual artist and Performing Arts in the areas of Dance, Music, or Theatre.

Students in the Academy program are taught by caring teachers who will integrate the arts into their core curricular subjects.  Each year, students will receive foundational training in their arts field of study.  Academy students will have opportunities to experience off-campus study trips related to their arts field of interest and participate in a mentor and internship program during the junior and senior years.  All students in the Academy and involved in the Arts at La Mirada have the wonderful opportunity to exhibit and perform at the annual VAPA Extravaganza at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.  Please check out the photos from the most recent production on April 3rd.

All students are welcome to apply to be part of this Academy.  The VAPA Academy aims to produce students that are excellent in their field of study and will continue the tradition of an award-winning program.  We are proud to have the wonderful support of our VAPA Advisory Board comprised of community and district dignitaries and professionals committed to providing our students opportunities in the arts to fulfill their dreams and make a difference.
