     Poem in Your Pocket Day
Poem in Your Pocket Day is Thursday, April 30th this year!!!  Let’s all pick out a favorite poem or even write our own and carry it in our pockets that day.  Then we should make sure to take time to share our poems with each other throughout the day.  It is a fun way to encourage our students to learn more about poetry and get excited about sharing their poems with others!!!

Welcome to Moffitt Elementary School

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! The Moffitt community of parents, students, teachers and staff is an amazing group of dedicated individuals who work together to create a positive environment for all to learn and grow. We are dedicated to creating a school that provides a rigorous, standards based academic program for all students in a safe and nurturing learning environment.

The teachers at Moffitt are continually involved in staff development to improve our knowledge and skills as educators. This year we are excited to implement the Common Core Standards.  Lead teachers have been trained to help provide staff development and support the transition to Common Core curriculum and standards.  Our staff also continues to implement the strategies learned through the District's Literacy Initiative to promote critical thinking, develop academic language and increase comprehension in all areas of the curriculum. When you walk in the rooms on our campus you will find a learning environment that supports academic growth and fosters a love of learning. The print-rich environment with meaningful co-created charts, cooperative seating arrangements, organized classroom libraries, and meeting areas designed for large group, small group and individualized instruction help to create the most effective learning environment for our students.

I am looking forward to a successful 2014-15 school year where we continue to work collaboratively to increase student achievement and instill a love of learning into the lives of all Moffitt Mustangs.
