February has always been one of my favorite months of the year, not only for personal reasons, but because this month is about “heart.” I don’t mean heart as in Valentine’s Day, although tokens of affection are nice too; but I mean “heart” as in courage, persistence, and passion. This month we celebrate our most notable Presidents, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, and we also celebrate African Americans who have made contributions to America. In all of these examples, be it our Presidents or African American trailblazers, they all had the “heart” and the determination to envision a better country.
So it makes me wonder, how much “heart” do we have at Nuffer Elementary? What vision do we have for the future of our school? As a new Principal, I have my own thoughts about how I would answer these questions, but what I’m most interested in is how would you answer these questions. On Wednesday, March 7th at 1:15 p.m. I invite all parents to attend Vision Building: Creating a Better Future for Nuffer. This is an opportunity to have open and structured conversations with our staff about what you are most passionate about in ensuring that your child has a high quality education and a motivating learning environment. This will be one of three meetings to develop a plan that will guide our actions over the next three years. The work we do in these meetings will take courage to think differently and persistence will be necessary to make words become a reality, but I am confident that together we can enact a vision that will positively impact the heart of our school: our students!
