Jose M. Rios was elected to the Norwalk- La Mirada School Board in 2020, and currently serves as Board President. Jose resides in the city of Norwalk with his wife, Margarita. Together, they raised three sons who all attended NLMUSD schools and are NLMUSD graduates.
Jose is an active member of the school community and has served in various volunteer positions, beginning in 1993 as a parent volunteer. He has since served as PTSA President, PTSA Wellness and Safety chair, member of ELAC, School Site Council, and chair of the NLMUSD Wellness committee.
Jose’s long positive standing in the school community contributed to the success of Measure G. Measure G, a school bond passed by the voters, led to transformational changes to NLMUSD schools, with new athletic fields, school site modernization, and improvements in technology infrastructure.
Jose has been a participant of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Committee (WASC) since 2002. His involvement with WASC ensures that all students receive a quality education and are college and career ready.
Jose believes in continuing education and earned his real estate certificate from the NLMUSD adult school in 2014, ultimately leading to successfully passing the California Real Estate exam. Jose’s professional endeavors include membership with the Norwalk Business Chamber. He has served as president of the chamber and currently serves as a member of the board of directors.
Jose’s relies on his life long experience and sense of community to guide his service for all students, parents, and staff.
