Norma Amezcua graduated from Los Angeles City College and received her Associates in Arts Degree in Child Development. She began her teaching career as a Preschool Teacher working for Para Los Niños, a non-profit organization serving low-income families in Skid Row. Ms. Amezcua attended Pacific Oaks College where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development and later attended California State University Long Beach and received her Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Amezcua currently works for the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation a non-profit organization, where she has held various state and federally funded positions. She is currently the Early Care and Education Program Director where she manages 27 Early Learning Centers in 6 California counties.
Ms. Amezcua has served in various committees and organizations that help and support families and children such as member of the Cerritos College Child Development Advisory Board, member of the Los Angeles Child Care Planning Committee, Child Development Mentor and Coach , Commissioner for the City of Norwalk Social Services Department, and Past President of the Norwalk Lions Club.
Ms. Amezcua became a NLMUSD school board member because she believes all children deserve a quality education regardless of their socio-economic status. She also believes that engaging parents in their children’s learning supports their overall academic success.
Ms. Amezcua is proud to live in the city of Norwalk with her two sons Randy and Adrian, her grandson Maverick, and dog Toby.
