The Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution to adopt a By-Trustee Area map for use in future Board elections. The resolution, which was approved during a special Board meeting on December 5, 2022, along with the recommended map can be viewed below:

The Board held three prior meetings for discussion of maps presented by the National Demographics Corporation and the community. The adopted map, which was submitted by a community member, will move forward to the Los Angeles County Committee on School District Organization for approval. The County Committee will hold at least one public hearing on the map, with a hearing date that is to be determined. If approved, the trustee-area map would be in effect for the 2024 Board of Education election and used through the 2030 election before coming up for review.
Previously, the Board of Education approved a resolution to transition to a By-Trustee Area on August 29, 2022. This followed a demand letter on July 20, 2022, from attorney Kevin I. Shenkman, of the firm Shenkman & Hughes, requesting the transition under the California Voting Rights Act.
