Special Education Transition Night

The Work Ability and Transition Services Department is thrilled to be hosting our annual Special Education Transition Night on Thursday, February 22nd from 5:30-8pm. This event will be held at the District Office in the back PDA rooms 3/4. Guest speakers from Harbor Regional Center, Department of Rehabilitation, Cerritos College DSPS, Cypress School of Continuing Education Disability Support, Social Security Administration (SSI) & NLMUSD Adult Transition Program at Huerta will be presenting and answering questions regarding post secondary support services, training programs and employment. Our students and families will hear from all panelists and attend breakout sessions of choice.

Social Media Hoax

On Sunday, a threat was posted on social media involving Norwalk High School. The Sheriff's Department investigated the threat and determined it was a hoax. School will be held as normal. The safety and security of our students and staff are our number one priority.

La Mirada Teacher Named One of Best in LA County

A veteran visual arts teacher known for her passionate teaching and a classroom style that focuses on guiding students toward innovation and creativity has been named a 2017 Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year.

Jennifer Hodge, of Benton Middle Magnet School in La Mirada, was one of the 16 county teachers of the year who were announced September 29th by the Los Angeles County Office of Education at ceremonies held at a Universal City hotel.
