Superintendent's Message

Dear NLMUSD Families,

Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year. The beginning of a new school year is always a special time on our campuses for our new and returning students and staff. I hope that your summer was relaxing, filled with adventures and good health. We are fortunate to welcome new staff this academic year, whose expertise will build upon the remarkable dedication to excellence that characterizes the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. As we begin this new year, I wish everyone the greatest success as we welcome over 17,000 students to their educational journey.

I would like to begin by commending the efforts of all staff members who have worked tirelessly during the summer months to ensure that our teachers are provided with continuous professional learning opportunities to support our students. I also want to highlight the work done at the school sites to guarantee safe, inviting, and impeccable campuses ready for our students and staff as they return to school. As we get a glimpse from the California School Dashboard, we are excited to share that our district continues to improve academically. Our accomplishments have been remarkable and we will continue our focus on teaching and learning to ensure our students are college and career ready.

Despite the challenges we face, this school year promises to be an exciting one, but to make this happen, we need each and every one of you – BECAUSE YOU MATTER! As parents, you have a contribution to make and your actions and support will impact our students’ academic and social emotional well-being. To make our motto “Every Student. Future Ready. Our Promise!” a reality, we must continue to work together.

On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to thank you for your continued support in our journey towards excellence.

Sincerely,

Hasmik J. Danielian, Ed.D.
