OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL
The mission of the Office of General Counsel in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District is to educate District clients on the laws applicable to the District’s operations, solve legal problems faced in its day-to-day operations, facilitate transactions and provide legal advice and representation to District clients in fulfillment of their primary mission and goal of implementing effective standards-based programs for student success and achievement in the District.
The Office has one attorney with a general governmental law practice, emphasizing education law. The Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District as an institution is the client. As a result, the Office is responsible for supervising all legal matters of the District including its litigation, transactional, and advisory needs arising from its Board of Education, Superintendent and District administrators.
It is the goal of the Office to ensure legal compliance, minimize legal costs and reduce legal risk in an efficient, expeditious, reliable and professional manner.
