Staff Training: Registration

Welcome to the Special Education Department Training Registration Page
Training is available to current employees of Norwalk-La Mirada USD.  At this time, training is not open to substitute staff. Employment status will be verified prior to approval to attend training.
You can register for the following trainings here:

Behavior Training Series for Teachers

Attendance is limited to 40 participants.
All trainings are 3:30pm-5:00pm in PDA 5
This year we will focus on putting the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) into practice.
Training Dates & Topics:
ALL Behavior Trainings are 3:30pm-5:00pm at the District Office, PDA 5
September 8:  Implementation Logistics of the BIP
October 13:  Defining Behavior Problems in the BIP
December 8:  Environmental Factors in the BIP
February 9:  Function of Behavior, Teaching & Reinforcement
March 9:  Behavior Intervention Plan; Putting it all together
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
At this time, we are only accepting paper applications for CPI training so we can verify Principal's approval to attend.  Please print the Registration Form, fill it out, obtain site Administrator's approval and email, mail or fax the form to Angie at Fax # (562) 929-8722
You must register at least 2 weeks prior to the training in order to secure a substitute.
Initial Training: (2 days) is required for all new and expired CPI certifications.  CPI certification is valid for 2 years.
Refresher Training: (1 day) is for staff currently certified in CPI approaching expiration.
All CPI trainings are scheduled 8:00am-3:00pm.  You must attend the entire session to receive certification.

Paraeducator Academy 2016-2017

20 hours of training for NLMUSD staff currently employed as a Paraeducator - Special Education
This training is limited to 20 participants for each session - first come, first served!  It will be provided during parent conference weeks.
Attendees must attend ALL 20 sessions for the entire session and pass all exams in order to receive a certificate of completion.
Preschool/Elementary Paraeducators 10/3/16-10/7/16 and 1/23/17-1/27/17

Middle School Paraeducators 10/17/16 - 10/21/16 and 3/20/17-3/24/17

High School/Transition Paraeducators will be given first priority for the Paraeducator Academy during ESY.
