Staff Training: Registration

Welcome to the Special Education Department Training Registration Page
 
Training is available to current employees of Norwalk-La Mirada USD.  At this time, training is not open to substitute staff. Employment status will be verified prior to approval to attend training.
 
You can register for the following trainings here:
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
  • DIBs Academy
 
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
At this time, we are only accepting paper applications for CPI training so we can verify Principal's approval to attend.  Please print the Registration Form, fill it out, obtain site Administrator's approval and email, mail or fax the form to Angie at eguzman-herndon@nlmusd.org Fax # (562) 929-8722
 
You must register at least 2 weeks prior to the training in order to secure a substitute.
 
Initial Training: (2 days) is required for all new and expired CPI certifications.  CPI certification is valid for 2 years.
Refresher Training: (1 day) is for staff currently certified in CPI approaching expiration.
 
All CPI trainings are scheduled 8:00am-3:00pm.  You must attend the entire session to receive certification.

DIBs Academy 2021-2022

An 8 session training program for Direct Behavior Interventionists (DIBs) for NLMUSD staff currently employed as a DIBs. Topics will include training in ABA, mental health, supporting learning and more.  
 
Attendees must attend ALL 8 sessions for the entire session and pass all exams in order to receive a certificate of completion.
 
Trainings will occur on early out for Elementary or Middle school assignments and on late start days for High school assignments on the following Wednesdays:
 
A.M. Group — 8:30 - 10:00
P.M. Group — 1:00 - 2:30
