At the Board of Education Meeting on Thursday, September 29, 2022, the Board approved a resolution to adopt the criteria for trustee area maps. The National Demographics Corporation will prepare up to four draft maps for discussion during the Board of Education Meeting on October 10, 2022. The Board will consider adopting one map at the scheduled Board of Education on October 24, 2022.
Community members can submit user-generated maps for consideration using Dave's Redistricting App (DRA) using the link below.
DRA allows members of the community to create and submit proposed district maps for the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. Use the resources below, including a step-by-step “How To Guide” and video tutorials to learn how DRA works.
On the main website, register to create a user account to draw a district map.
Once an account is created, users can access the NLMUSD template and click the paintbrush icon to “Make an editable copy of this map.”
Once the user map is drawn, please email a link to map and the plan name to [email protected]. Please include name and address when submitting.
After submitting a map, demographic consultants will generate the population and other demographic details for the proposed map. Maps can be viewed on the Draft Maps page or on the Interactive Review Map.
Users are encourages to provide comments along with submitted maps describing how the map was drawn to meet the required criteria. An example of this would be describing the specific neighborhoods or communities of interest that are kept within a single district.
Maps will be processed in the order they are received and will be posted on the redistricting homepage for public viewing. Processed maps will be posted a week prior to each meeting on October 3, 2022 and October 17, 2022.
