Measure G
The Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District serves a vital role in our community by providing quality education to local TK-12 students. A key aspect of this commitment is the construction of modern facilities to improve the quality of education for every student in every school.
District needs included repairing drainage systems, leaking roofs and decaying walls; updating computer, science and math lab technology; upgrading fire safety systems including safety doors, fire proofing, smoke alarms, and detectors; upgrading school security and fencing; and, updating technology for twenty-first century learning.
To address these needs, the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District Board of Education directed District staff to research the feasibility of placing a publicly-funded measure onto a future general ballot. The purpose of the measure was to support facility upgrades across the District, helping to maintain safe and healthy learning environments.
Following public feedback and funding research, the Board voted to place the Measure G Bond on the November 4, 2014 general ballot. Local voters residing within the District borders passed the $375-million dollar bond, at a cost of approximately $60/year per $100,000 of assessed - not market - property value.
