Migrant Education

The Migrant Education Program at the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District provides children of the local community with essential educational services and health services free of charge. Both children and parents have the opportunity to embark in a series of seminars and workshops that are designed to strengthen family relationships and provide helpful resources for in times of need. Various scholastic academies are offered throughout the year that enables children and parents to learn and enhance literacy skills and technology skills.

Children may qualify for educational services and health services based on parent’s type of work. If in the past three years you have moved to seek employment in agriculture, fishing, orchard, nursery, dairy, packing, food processing or forestry, your child may be eligible to receive the free services. 

The services are provided for students within the ages of 0-21. In addition, the Migrant Education Program can help parents of eligible children by facilitating useful workshops that teach parents how to help their children succeed in school, become familiar with services offered by programs and agencies in the community and improve the family's lifestyle.

Parent Advisory Committee

The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) consists of dedicated district parents from the office of Migrant Education. Members meet six times throughout the year and work as liaisons between the Regional Parent Advisory Committee and parents of the Norwalk- La Mirada Unified School District.
