What is Dual Immersion?

Dual Language education is an effective approach to developing language proficiency and literacy in English and a partner language. Our Immersion programs integrates native English speakers and native speakers of another language for academic content instruction through both English and the partner language beginning in elementary school.

SPANISH

Dolland and Edmondson Elementary School

TK-5th Grade (90:10 Model)

Students start in TK or Kinder with 90% of their day in Spanish and 10% in English. Each year the percentage of instruction in Spanish gets lower until 4th and 5th grade are 50:50 English to Spanish.Students at the middle school level take two courses each year in Spanish (Language Arts, Social Studies or Science)

Los Alisos Middle School

6-8th Grade - 2 Classes Taught in Spanish

Students at the middle school level take two courses each year in Spanish (Language Arts, Social Studies or Science)

High School Multilingual Pathway

9-12th Grade

Students in high school continue their journey to multilingualism by taking AP courses in Spanish Language and Literature while adding two years of an additional language. Students who pass the AP tests can receive college credit.

Who Can Enroll in Dual Immersion?

Enrollment for these programs is open to both native English speakers and Spanish speakers. Enrollment is based on a target balance of 50% English speaking students and 50% Spanish speaking students that provides both groups with positive language models throughout their instruction.

Once the permit is submitted, all students interested in enrolling in the dual immersion program must complete and submit a Dual Immersion Program Interest Form to the requested dual immersion school. 
 
 
Once the permit is completed and interest form is submitted families will be contacted by the school site to coordinate a brief language assessment.
 
Families will be contacted by the school site regarding acceptance to the dual immersion program.
